The latest HSE statistics for 2023/24 reveal a sobering reality: 138 workers were fatally injured, with the manufacturing sector accounting for the third-highest number of fatalities. Additionally, 561,000 workers suffered non-fatal injuries, resulting in a staggering 3.7 million lost working days. Independent analysis from Verdantix further highlights the heightened risks faced by on-site contractors, with incident rates typically three times higher than those for permanent staff.
