Networking and Workshops

There are seven different workshops available at this educational event. Each workshop will run three times throughout the day and delegates may attend up to three in total*. Following the event, every attendee will receive the slides from all the presentations.

We are delighted to have secured UKAS’ Jon Murthy to deliver a briefing on the role of UKAS and why accredited certification is vital in helping SMEs gain access to tenders and benefit from insurance premium reductions.


Workshop 2: Melanie Blackmore, Blackmores

‘ISO 45001, the new international standard for occupational health and safety: Latest update and top ten tips on implementation’

Melanie has been involved with the creation, development and implementation of British and international standards for over 17 years. She will be providing an overview of the forthcoming ISO 45001 standard, along with tips on implementing the standard and how this will differ from OHSAS 18001.


Workshop 3: Stuart Skelly, Data Protection, Privacy & GDPR Consultant, IT Governance

‘General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) – How SMEs can use ISO 27001 to aid compliance’

Stuart has over 20 years’ experience in data protection law and will be providing a comprehensive understanding of the new regulations and the impact non-compliance can have on SMEs, along with practical steps to take in order to achieve compliance.


Workshop 4: Robert Clements, Director, Assent Risk Management

‘ISO 27001: A practical guide to implementation’

Robert has over 10 years’ experience and specialises in ISO 27001 Information Security. His workshop will focus on how ISO 27001 can be applied pragmatically to provide real benefits to SMEs including managing information security risks, achieving legal compliance, demonstrating information governance in tenders and engaging with interested parties who could affect information assets.


Workshop 5: Sally Brown, Director, Trinity Management Systems Ltd

‘ISO 9001 overview and using ISO certification to win new business’

Sally has over 13 years’ experience of implementing and auditing all the major standards and will be providing an overview of ISO 9001, including transitioning to the ISO 9001:2015, plus tips to help your business gain greater exposure of your certification to win new business.


Workshop 6: Andrew Foy MCIOB, Managing Director, Foy Certification

‘Operating an Intergrated Management Systems (IMS)’

Andrew has over 25 years’ experience as a specialist contractor, implementing and developing Integrated Management Systems. His workshop will advise on the benefits of integration and determining framework for your IMS, plus how this can run your whole business as well as saving your time and money.


Workshop 7: Andrew Fletcher, MRICS CEnv, ESP Ltd

‘Introductory briefing: An overview to ISO 14001 Environmental Management’

Andrew is a Chartered Environmentalist, IEMA Registered Environmental Trainer and a Chartered Surveyor with over 13 years’ experience as an environmental consultant, working in environmental management. He will be providing an interactive and informative workshop on how ISO 14001 can help manage your environmental risks and opportunities and how to implement an EMS to the standard, including transitioning to ISO 14001:2015.
